What to Expect from your Engagement Shoot

Congratulations on your engagement! Whether you are newly engaged or just getting around to celebrating, I hope you know that your love is always worth celebrating! I love capturing this time for couples. It can be a little nerve wracking to prepare for photos as a couple if you’ve never had them taken professionally before so I have put together a few tips here to help prepare you for our time together (and hopefully ease any butterflies)!

No. 1 My number 1 goal (besides some awesome photos) is to get to know you individually & as a couple. I want to know who is shy, who loves the attention, who is the decision maker, who is along for the ride? I want to know what makes you both laugh and what elicits a genuine look of love for your soon-to-be spouse. These are the sweet things that make up your relationship and thats the good stuff that I’m looking to capture for you on your wedding day!

No. 2 We will move around. If you’ve got an activity you love as a couple, this is a perfect way for us to get to know each other. It can also help you feel at home and your personalities are likely to shine! Consider some movement when planning your outfits. While we may not go hiking (unless thats your thing!), you’ll want to wear something that is flattering in a variety of positions, like sitting and standing. Your shoes should also be functional, or make sure you have a spare pair for moving between photos!

No. 3 We are gonna have fun! Whether we’re laughing together or you’re whispering sweet nothings to one another, you will be most relaxed when you’re having fun so that is a high priority! I am looking for ways to get you to be yourselves so that your most genuine expressions can be captured.
